Travelling is a beautiful thing.
Discovering a new place always feels like unfolding a whole new world.
But getting there can be very stressful. Long hour flights. Packing your bag’s. Hurrying to the airport.
But what to do when you got the travel bug?
Sometimes the beauty is located right in front of you. You live in a country which you don’t know at all. You know your city, your food places and where to party.
But what lies behind those city walls?
Bavaria is a wonderful state and located in the south of Germany. On a cloudless day in Munich you can see up to the alps.
For someone who has been growing up in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but trees it was only a matter of time until the urbanization fades away and turns into a craving for nature.
So the other day Rafia and I decided it would be a great thing to escape Munich for a day and made our way to
Which is a lake at the bottom-most part of Germany where the Austrian border begins. I’ve heard of the green water and the spectacular view on the mountains before. But I never thought about going there until I saw shots of the beautiful Masha Sedgwick taken by the lake. (sad but true) 😀
The first thought which came to my mind when planning an outfit for that day was that I need something special. A look which appreciates the unbelievable backdrop while being warm and functional at once.
Not that easy if you ask me.
And I wanted something black to make a wonderful contrast with the white snow around me.
The moment I saw the tulle skirt by Massimo Dutti I knew that it would be perfect. It’s long but not as long that you would step on it. And you can wear a pair (or two) of woolen tights underneath so you won’t sustaining a loss in warmth.
I combined it with a woolen hat and a turtleneck sweater to ensure that I won’t freeze to death.
Additional I was wearing my down anorak on top but took it off for the photos (cause that’s what bloggers do).
My feet were covered in Dr. Martens as they gave the look an edgy touch and helped me not to fall while walking around the area.
Bag: Numero Ventuno
Skirt: Massimo Dutti
Shoes: Dr. Martens
We wanted to make a boat trip that day to get to the other side of the lake.
But as it was Rafia and me (and we are always unlucky with boats, more here) the tours were cancelled for that day according to a weather alert.
Bad luck, I guess.
Anyways. We decided to make an easy mountain hike which was wonderful. Walking in an environment like this makes you feel small and gives rise to deep thoughts about life.
We had a wonderful view about the sea and mountain at a lookout.
It really left me speechless.
Going on we discovered a little creek which went down the mountain.
A wonderful and beautiful place which made me climb into the brook bed. I think those are my fav shots from that day.
After we ended our walk we ate one of my favorite dishes: Kässpätzle (you can see it on the left 😉 ).
Are you into day trips?
If you need any help or recommendations upon beautiful Königssee I’d really like to help you out.
Lots of love your way,
