I decided that we all could need a bit of summer and sun right now as winter doesn’t want to leave.
As I didn’t publish my Rome post last August when we were there I thought it would be nice to soak up some sun while looking at the Rome photos.
It’s going to be mainly a photo diary with some short information here and there.
Have fun while watching! And pretend to feel some warmth on your skin 😉
We stayed in Hotel Isa, which is a wonderful Hotel near the Piazza Cavour with a fantastic roof garden (see image above), an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and very friendly and helpful staff.
GOOD TO KNOW:
Bus tickets can’t be bought in the bus. Keep your eyes open for kiosks or automata here and there!
If you are a student you should do one of those guided tours for sure as you get a discount. The guides are often very helpful, friendly and well informed. Plus: You can skip the line! 😉
When visiting the Forum Romano you should go up the Palatine hill. The view is fantastic!
Don’t visit Rome in August – it’s so hot, you’re going to die. If you are going anyways: carry a bottle with you. You can fill it at the helpful drinking fountains!
Be careful when crossing roads! A green light doesn’t mean you can pass. Always check if there is a car near by. Trust me, this tip is a lifesaver!
Food is always an important factor while travelling, isn’t it? And talking about Italy it’s Pizza, Pasta and Dolci for sure 😉
For the best ice cream in Rome visit Giolitti. You are not going to regret it!
For good pizza, pasta and a nice modern ambiance visit Camillo B.
Don’t go to the slow food restaurant Ciao Checca! It’s expensive and the dishes are very small.
What to do?
We visited the Colosseum and the Forum Romano.
Other must-do’s are the Trevi-fountain, the Pantheon or the Villa Medici.
Go on and check out the Vatican! It’s really worth a visit. Especially the Vatican museum is a must-go for every art lover. You can see important artworks like “The school of Athens” or “The Creation of Adam”.
It’s easy to do some day trips from Rome. We wanted to go to the sea so we visited Gaeta (more here). But you could also go to Florence, Naples or Pompeii.
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I had making it.
If you want to know more about Rome, our trip or need other recommendations just write me a message.
Have you ever been to Rome?
Lots of love,
