Vintage. Such a wonderful word. And surprise: I’m wearing two pre-loved designer pieces in this look! Yep, and you didn’t even know about it or realized it, right?
So I’m going to share a little shopping secret with you today. And of course it’s not a secret but I really want to encourage you to do yourself a favor and visit vintage stores more often. Even if you don’t have a wonderful designer 2nd hand concept store next door you might also find some really great catches while looking online. And here is how you do…
I’m in love with the Dior Saddle bag. It’s such a great (vintage) piece which was just relaunched. Since Sarah Jessica Parker wore it in Sex and the City I’m sort of addicted to its’ design. And the early 00s it-bag is much cheaper second hand than it is buying the remade Saddle in the Dior shops now.
Sometimes the pieces you really need for your wardrobe (because it can be a real need from time to time, right?) are sadly out of stock. Or too expensive. Or the manufacturing ceased. Whatever it is: it happens to all of us.
I had an eye on the shown Chloé Nile bag for a while. But as a student I really have to keep an eye on my finances too. For my birthday I wanted to endow myself with a little present. So I was browsing all well-known designer second hand online shops for the best deals. And it took me hours until I finally found the caramel-colored dream of mine on Vestiaire Collective.
The thing is: I could have saved myself some time and trouble (and who knows, maybe also money?) if I had known a simple but super effective and easy website before – Catchys*.
Catchys allows you to search through all approved designer second hand online shops at once. Approved are those, who make an authenticity check, ship worldwide and provide you a huge selection of pre-loved gems. In their “magazine” section they also offer you tons of information about fake checks, present you cool new labels and ensure that you know everything about your new baby through given bag guides.
There are some bags which really achieved some kind of cult status, like the famous Chanel 2.55, Louis Vuittons Alma or the Hermès Birkin bag. You just hear the names and you immediately get a mental picture. Other bags are modern it-bags, seasonal highlights or maybe the next icons to be (like my little Nile of course 😉 ).
If you aren’t into the whole bag thing at all: don’t worry, Catchys also sells great shoes and clothing. And if you haven’t enough pocket money they also sell (non-designer but) high-quality clothing from labels like Liebeskind Berlin.
Just enter your search word into the respective toolbar (in my example something creative like “Dior Saddle“) and there you go: sites over sites showing you the desired piece in different models, conditions and on a variety of providers.
What’s your next catch going to be? As you might have guessed already I’m hoping to buy myself the Dior Saddle bag soon 😉 .
Have you heard of Catchys before? What are your 2nd hand designer finds?
And as I didn’t solved the riddle in the beginning completely: the Gucci Marmont pumps are the 2nd piece I bought preloved!
Really would love to know yours too!
Hope you are having a great start into the new week!
Lots of love,
Dress. H&M Studio SS18.
