Walking In My Old Shoes (Again)

Two weeks of vacation at home are coming to an end by this weekend and I’m pretty sad about it.

I had a wonderful time with my family and beloved boyfriend Kai which was filled with lots of laughter and “excursions” as we used to call it. As part of those we strolled through Munich the other day and had a wonderful and relaxing time. Watching all those beautiful old buildings is always a great pleasure to both of us.

It’s like walking through history while thinking of all the things and sceneries which those old buildings are reflecting in all their silent beauty. There were thousends of lovers before us walking down those streets and there are going to be thousends of lovers after us – maybe.

When talking about history I always have to think about my own history as well. About the past and the future, where I was a few years ago and where I am now. I have to admit that I was totally different in some ways a few years ago but I’m not sad that I lost something of my old me. Even tough I’m more often afraid of my future today than I was before I’m also happier. Leaving some things behind is always an uncaging feeling – it’s like loosing needless weight… ☺

Change can be a very good thing and a great feeling.

This look represents it somehow.

I used to wear Dr. Martens all the time a few years ago but I changed. I have now a couple of dozen different shoes and I love to wear every single pair of them…but on some days you have to put on your old favourite shoes and take them on a walk – just to say hello to a part of your alter ego again and to realize who you are today and how you changed.

Do you have the same thing with some pieces in your wadrobe? Something you just keep for the wonderful memories you connect with it?

Lots of love,

So ein schöner Look, liebe Katharina <3 Ich habe auch einige Kleidungsstücke, die mich an früher erinnern. Ich glaube, die sollte ich mal wieder tragen 🙂

I hope to not bore you with complimenting your photography again! My oh my, amazing pictures!
My favorite is your portrait. To answer your question, I own a pair of very very old pajamas. Maybe about 12 years old, I love them.
As you said when you wear such historically important pieces you feel closer to your older self.
