10 Facts About Myself

Who am I?

In all it’s simplicity lays the depth of this question, because sometimes the simplest questions are the hardest to answer.

As my blogger friends and fellows Tori and Stella (check out their blogs as well for amazing fashion inspiration!) nominated me to write 10 facts and things about myself I was yet again confronted with this question. What makes me to who I am? What are the unique and special things which brought me to the point I am now?

So here we go, guys! Have fun while reading and getting to know me better one-by-one!

1 – Butterflies.

There are weird people and then there’s me. If you and me would stroll through green fields during spring or summer season, enjoying the warm sunshine on our skins, our happiness wouldn’t last very long. Why? Butterflies are the reason! I’m really afraid of butterflies (and other erratic flying insects!) since my ninth birthday when a huge milkweed butterfly just landed on my nose! Urgh! 🙁

2 – Vegetarian.

As a child I watched a documentary report about factory farming. My poor young heart was so shocked about the seen images I just couldn’t reconcile the pain of those animals with my conscience any longer and decided to become a vegetarian right away (and I still am!). Fun fact: I still love the smell of fried chicken! 😀

3 – Nicknames.

I had so many nicknames since my childhood days, so I decided to give you a little sample of the variety:

Curly, Katha, Goblin (the German word for goblin is Kobold which refers to my last name), Kati, Kadda

Today most of my friends either call me Kat or just Katharina, while my boyfriend used to call me Lubi most of the time (if my friend Rafia is reading this: now you finally know!)

4 – Han·gry.

(han-gree), adj.

I’m suffering from hanger. Don’t know the term? To quote the Urban Dictionary here:

“When you are so hungry that your lack of food causes you to become angry, frustrated or both.” So everytime I’m starting to feel hungry my mood is getting worse with every passing second without food. If you’ll ever see me hangry, you’ll better run! 😉

5 – Hair.

Some of you may know, others may haven’t noticed yet (which still surprises me sometimes because honestly: you have to see my dark roots from time to time!) BUT the truth is: my hair is dyed. My natural color is dark brown. I’m dyeing my hair since I’m fourteen years old but they weren’t red all along. First I dyed my hair black, later black with some purple highlights (yep! honestly!) and step by step from a dark mahogany red to the light “ginger” color it’s now. By the way: the length of my hair changed also a lot, there were times when my hair was so short it didn’t reached my chin…

6 – Cheese Spaetzle

You haven’t seen me eating when there were no cheese spaetzle! It’s my favourite food and a typical German dish consisting of a special type of noodles and as its name implies – mostly cheese. I don’t know what it is but I can’t stop eating when there is spaetzle, even tough I consider myself eating “normal” portions most of the time. #foodlover #hangry 😉

7 – Silence.

I’m a pretty silent person. I really don’t know why. I don’t have to talk a lot and if I don’t feel like it I’m not going to open my mouth for a looong time. Most people who are getting to know me mistake my silence for shyness, which can be confusing sometimes when I decide to finally start chatting with someone self-motivated. It has also not in the least to do with arrogance because most of the time I just prefer listening instead of talking.

Sounds like I’m a weirdo? Yep. But if you know me good enough you are going to be glad when I finally quit the talking! 😀

8 – Arts and Philosophy.

I always wanted to become an artist, it was never at issue for me to do anything else. I drew a lot as a child and keep on drawing while growing older. As I finished school and took my A-levels I knew I had to study at an arts academy. The first time I applied I was 18 years old and failed, which was quite a shock for me and lead to a long period where I didn’t want to touch or see a pencil. I started to study art history then and wasn’t happy at all so two years later I gathered some courage and applied again – successfully. I’m now in my fifth semester and in the first of philosophy which is the perfect addition to arts!

9 – Fashion.

Fashion was always a big part of my life and a huge thing for me. It’s a wonderful way to express yourself and it brings me a lot of joy to discover the latest trends and to implement those in my (hopefully) unique style and sense of fashion. I signed up at Lookbook in 2012 because I wanted to share my style with the world and to gather some outfit-inspirations from others but I wasn’t self-conscious enough to keep it going and started the blog project in 2015 once again, which was one of the best descisions ever! 😉

10 – Love.

I know my boyfriend since high-school but we were friends for a very long time (even tough I was the first girl he ever kissed, hihi!) until I started to fall in love with him (again). We are almost together for four years now and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. I’m really thankful for his support, encouragements and love everyday and I honestly can’t imagine anyone else who would be such a #perfectmatch as he is to me. ♥

Hope you enjoyed those 10 things about myself! Feel free to share some fun facts about you in the comments below!

Lots of love,
